Purposeful discipleship: How purposeful is your discipleship?
- My following God is general, undefined and perhaps rather aimless
- I have a general sense of well-being about following Jesus
- I set out to follow Jesus in my personal life, family and job on a daily basis
- I feel my discipleship has Spirit-led purposefulness and growth
- I regularly take time (say every month or quarter) to evaluate how the Lord is leading in each area of my discipleship, growing and changing as I follow His leading
Community Outreach: How involved are you with sharing God’s love with other people?
- I have little sense of reaching out to others as a Christian
- I am aware of the needs of others but feel inadequate and ill-equipped
- I am reaching out to help my friends socially and spiritually
- I am seeing at least one friend change spiritually
- I am working with other Christians to reach out spiritually and socially to those in need.
Passionate worship: How passionate is your personal and corporate worship life?
- I get to church only infrequently and/or sometimes spend time on my own worshipping God when I feel like it
- I enjoy worshipping with others and/or value personal time with God
- I actively seek to worship on my own and with others on a regular basis
- I am developing an active personal life of worship and prayer, becoming aware of my spiritual gifts
- I expectantly look forward to personal and communal worship, seeking to hear from God and growing in my spiritual gifts
Biblically-Centered Teaching: Is your understanding of Christianity focused on knowing, understanding and applying the Bible, God’s inspired Word?
- I rarely read the Bible myself or listen to teaching
- I look forward to good teaching and I am trying to read my Bible every day, sensing God's presence as I read.
- I read my Bible each day, attend a cell-group or equivalent and enjoy communal teaching, seeking God's leading through His Word
- I feel I know the main themes of the Bible and where to find them; I have sometimes led a cell-group discussion and I look forward to good Bible teaching as a means of knowing God in my life and purposes
- I can show or teach others the main teachings in the Bible, and I seek with confidence to hear the Spirit speaking through the Word
Inclusive Fellowship: Do you see the church fellowship as a means to learn, to love and to grow God’s Kingdom?
- Faith and church are a private matter only and there is no need to share my beliefs with others
- I look forward to seeing people and I hope I contribute to the church’s friendliness
- I set out to talk to people, including strangers, at the meetings I go to seeking to help, encourage and share Christ’s love with them
- I am an active member of the congregation and cell, seeing it as a way to include newcomers, to encourage Christians and to help them grow in Christ
- I regularly meet with one or two others for prayer, accountability or spiritual growth, feeding that growth into cell and congregation so that the Body of Christ grows
Expectant Prayer: Do you pray with faith and expectancy?
- I pray only when I feel inspired or in need
- I sense that God answers my prayers, so I try to pray regularly
- I realise that prayer is a main means of knowing God and His plans for my life, so I have daily times of intercession or soaking for myself and others
- As prayer is a main means of God revealing His will, I have studied the main Bible passages about prayer and I constantly aim to bring my life, the church, the community and the world to God
- I am working on spiritual warfare and becoming a prayer warrior
Godly leadership: Do you enhance the leadership of your local church?
- I tolerate the church’s leaders
- I get along with our leaders and think they do a reasonable job.
- I always make sure to let them know when they do things well, as well as when things could be improved.
- I feel I understand our leaders, appreciate their faith, value their leadership and so set out to encourage and enhance their role
- I take an active interest not only in the local church but in wider church leadership issues
